The prostate is an exocrine gland of the male reproductive system, and exists directly under the bladder, in front of the rectum. A risk factor is anything that affects chance of getting a disease such as tumor. Different tumor has different risk factor. Some risk factor, like smoking, can be changed. Others, like a person’s age or family history can’t be changed.

Usually men who have prostate tumor is men over the age of 65. It is very rare in men younger than 40.

Prostate tumor occurs more often in African-American men and Caribbean men of African ancestry than in men of other races.

- Diet
Men who eat a lot of red meat or high fat dairy products appear to have a slightly higher chance of getting prostate tumor. These men also tend to eat fewer fruits and vegetables. Doctors are not sure which of these factors is responsible for raising the risk.
- Obesity
Most studies have not found that being (very overweight) is linked with a higher risk of getting prostate cancer overall. Some study studies that obese main may be at greater risk for having more advanced.
- Smoking
Most studies, some recent research has linked smoking to a possible small increase the risk factor of death from prostate tumor.
